I am a Bengali, my maternal family moved to India in 1971. According to current history textbooks, Bangladesh gives credit of their independence to Mukti Bahini. They mention India's help but the Mukti Bahini is worshipped in their books. Even today, most of Bangladeshis hate Hindu dominant India. I feel disappointed to know that we had huge amount of land in Bangladesh, we couldn't even bring our family God from Bangladesh.

I was born in 1939, I have lived thru WWII, seen Japan aircrafts attacking Madras harbour. Witnessed how Russia helped India militarily, economically and technically through out the sixties to 90s . But for Russia India would not be in a position that it is to day. America and the western world were poisoned chalice. They had great riches but only for those countries who were their ass lickers. When India needed big construction equipment for its 5 year plans, my father who was the chief engineer in charge of these big projects had to buy heavy earth moving equipment from abroad. Only countries that were making them were America, France, and U.K. But they wanted payments in Dollars would not take Rupees. Indian govt did not have foreign reserve, so they sought the help of east European countries and Russia who gave us the dollars and in exchange took our rupees. They used these rupees for buying our fruits and veg and other Indian products, Imagine which other western country would have done this.

My grandfather was in Indian Army and he always told us that Russia is our arch friend of all times. We can't imagine India without Russian's help as one, totally agree with Abhijeet. Huge respect for them❤️

I am 73 & I know how USSR helped India in 1971. I also remember the build up in 1970 leading to events of 1971.
In 1964 I saw the Mig factory coming up at Sunabeda(Odisha) with Russian help. This was a corollary to 1962.
On the contrary I understood U S policy of antagonism & suppression of India vis a vis Pakistan since the days of John Foster Dulles (this name is from my memory) in 1954.
This antagonism & contempt reached peak in 1971.
Modiji belongs to my generation & he is fully aware of all these issues.
How can we go against Russia?

The man who commanded 10th Soviet Pacific nuclear submarine fleet against US fleet was rear Admiral Vladimir Kruglyakov. Salute that man . Respect 🙏🙏🙏

My paternal grandfather and his entire family had to move to India during 1969 - 1970. They were robbed of all the land, money and valuable items they had and few of my father's cousins were butchered infront of their family .
When my Grandfather tells me stories of that time I can see the fear of death in his eyes . He came here without a single Penny and with his family. Faced a lot of hardships but things are stable now

Another little known fact is that the British navy too was on the side of America and Pakistan : > British Admiral Dimon Gordon, to the Seventh Fleet commander: “Sir, we are too late. There are the Russian atomic submarines here, and a big collection of battleships.” The British ships fled towards Madagascar while the larger US task force stopped before entering the Bay of Bengal.

Russia not only prevented an attack from USA-UK but also from China (Nixon asked China to attack India). Huge respect for Russia.

I had a colleague in Qatar who is Bangali. I would tell him that Bangladesh got independence from Pakistan coz of India. He would get irritated and would not want to accept or acknowledge India’s help and contributions. The fact is without India there would be no Bangladesh. They do hate India and I really fail to understand why. Is it jealousy coz of India’s progress?

but General Sam Manekshaw in an interview said that the 7th fleet was dangerous because of nuclear weapons, and if they had used them then he couldn't have done anything anyway but they wont use them coz their own country wont forgive it. If they had sent boots on ground then he famously said he would be called the greatest general coz he was sure he can beat both Pak and American soldiers on land with the way he planned.
