Can't even watch the video. I want to slap this guy for calling it an ECHO boost. I'm sure the engineers didn't name it after sound waves.... My guess would be eco for economy and boost well because it's turbocharged therefore ECOboost.

I came here to understand what the ecoboost engine does and this gentleman explained it perfectly. I'm not a gear head, and I appreciate his simple terms. I'm glad to have found a video that doesn't use jargon that goes over my head.

Very well done, sir.  Explained so anyone can understand it.  Even though others pointed out the fact that it's a turbine, not a pinwheel,   I suspect you know very well what it is and chose the word "pinwheel" because most people know what that is, just as most people don't know what a "turbine" is.  Language for everyday folks.

Talk to mechanics about the Ecoboost engine and they'll tell you that the heads carbon up after 50, 000 and the engines start running rough when they're cold. It has something to do with the larger heads they had to put on the engine to get the performance and fuel savings they needed.

yeah. but did u figure out the problems with a turbocharged direct injection engine? the carbon build up on intake valves? cam phaser coming apart? no catch can from the factory?
