Linux and these models have very little in common. This is all done by a single company pouring a ton of money into it. It's not a product of open collaboration.

I just canceled all subscriptions to any other models out there because the 405b is a beast and a monster. I was so moved when it worked and did exactly what I wanted it to do. I'm amazed and deeply appreciative of Meta's effort in helping the open-source community, standing against the greed of closed-source companies. The only issue with this model is that running it locally requires a significant amount of system memory (212.8 GiB), but if you have that much memory, you are the boss.

An important observation with this. When we exchange products we naturally think in terms of give and take, win or loose. However with AI we need to break out of that mindset and realise, giving people intelligence, weather it's artificial or not - is intelligence. It's no longer win-loose, but instead win-win-win-win.

One use case for AI is like my note taking APP Goodnotes. You can take hand written notes and it is able to spell check and make corrections while approximating your hand writing. If you pull in a PDF you can have a conversation with your notes. It will also let you search hand written notes. I believe behind the scenes AI will be very prevalent.
