I want to take my garage workshop tool storage to the next level. I have been curious about the foam storage option for some time and decided to give it a try.
I want to use the foam to create custom tool and equipment storage and organizer units for my small garage workshop.

we used this method at the placed I worked. one thing to add. We would add little cut outs along side of some tools, for your fingers to access the tool easily.

Hey bro, I did something similar. I found it was easier to cut the foam all the way through, then cut the pice to depth needed and place back in.

Wow, a exceptionally brilliant way to store tools!
Well done!

I think the only thing I would change, is adding little finger reliefs. But if it works for you at the depth you have it sunken, good for you!
Can't wait to see them "in place" in the storage!

I always enjoy your videos. The quality of your work is fantastic. The custom tool storage looks great! I have tried similar products for organizing too but here's my problem. Too many tools. The foam takes up so much space in my drawers I would need more tool boxes which I don't have space for. For example, I have many simple wrenches. Box and open end wrenches in SAE and metric. They easily fit in one drawer although in only a so-so neat fashion. If I used cut-out foam it would take several drawers. Believe me I know. I do however really like the foam if I want to highlight a particular item. I have several antique hand planes from my dad. I store them in a very nice case using foam cut outs. Again, thanks for this video.

Been doing this in the military since the '80s. It's a lot of work. If you have a laser cutter then it may be worth the time

Excellent work, Jean! It's looking much better there now! 😃
Unfortunately, I couldn't find this foam here in Brazil yet... Perhaps the name here is different or something. But I'm looking for it! 😊
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

KAIZEN FOAM and SHADOW FOAM are the best material for these types of applications and much easier to remove layers.

One day, i hope to be this organized. Unfortunately, My tool to toolbox ratio is severely out of wack and there's no way to get all my tools in foam board without at least 2 more standing tool boxes.😂

Love your videos. But I will say, if your top drawer of your toolbox was a mess, I sure would hate for you to see mine!!! 😂

I used it as a drill and router bit older - for most I could just push them in and didn’t even have to drill a hole 😉
