German makes final pledges to secure job as first female EU chief

A conservative German could become the first woman to take the European Union's (EU's) top job. The European Parliament would vote for a new leader on July 16, and all eyes were on Ursula von der Leyen. Climate change was at the centre of the agenda for the woman seeking to replace Mr Jean-Claude Juncker as the new EU Commission president.
