I have a Start Relay and it reads 5.5 ohms and does not rattle. I have the Overload and it reads 0.6 ohms. In short, everything works on my GE GBS22KBSBCC refrigerator except the fridge will not go below 40F and the freezer will not go below 33F. So, what would not allow strong cooling the start relay was bad or the capacitor? Defroster, thermistors, evaporator fan, condenser fan are all working and the coils are spotless. I even checked the three prongs on the condenser and got a 8.4 ohm on the two main prongs, 4.5 ohms on the left and 4.2 ohms on the right. My Embraco 1PH condenser has a label on the side reading "LRA of 11.5 EGU 70HLC' 115 - 127 V". My multimeter read 0.8 amps when it is running. The Capacitor multimeter read 11.85 uF (210 VAC 50/60 Hz @ 12 uF). Some history - In July 2016 I did had a technician add R 134a and in October 2018 I had to add an evaporator thermistor since my evaporator coils were an iceberg and it was not triggering the defrost mode; refrigerator was warm but freezer worked fine. NOTE: I made a video of the Start Relay arcing with the Overload when the compressor was called for power; there was just a click sound but no compressor. Then, 90 seconds later, it called on it again and the compressor hummed away. When I took it apart again the Star Relay gave the same reading but I noted it was VERY hot. Could this Relay still be bad but not activating all the time thus overheating because it is sometimes working? If so, maybe this is why the temperatures cannot catch up. With that said, I do not know the spec for my compressor amps but had some hand written notes from the 2006 technician (when he filled my R143a) stating the original amps were 0.7 and after he added 4.5# the amps were 1.55. His notes also read "spec = 1.5 to 1.7 amps). Should I purchase a new Relay and, if so, is it "good practice" to purchase a new Overload, also? They are very pricy at $76 and $80, a piece of plastic! ANY direction would be greatly appreciated by you.

I have a 2007 GE bottom freezer / refrigerator (Model - GBS2KBSBCC / SN HM052667). Compressor fan, Evaporator Fan, Defroster Mechanism and Compressor relay all work and the refrigerator is fine BUT the freezer will not go below 28F. Coils are very clean! I noticed I had to move the refrigerator control knob from 3 (normal setting since 2007 for a 36 F environment) to 5 and then 6. I then tried to set the Freezer to 9 (highest for max cooling) and turn the refrigerator to 1; if either set to zero the compressor / system turned off. Both thermostat DIALS work since each can turn the refrigerator or freezer off. In October 2018 I replaced the freezer thermistor, the one in the back cover on top of the evaporator, since the defroster was not activating thus a warm refrigerator. There is another thermistor in the freezer on the right panel. Is there a way to validate via the motherboard if this is the issue or do I need to cut it out and test it? The refrigerator at a 1 setting was 43F, 2 setting is 41 F, 3 setting is 40, 4 setting is 39F, and my normal setting of 5 is 37 F. It still works so it is either the freezer temperature side-wall thermistor or maybe the R134a gas is low; I had this filled back in July 2017. A repairman said the Amps on the condenser was reading 0.7 and was suppose to be between 1.5 and 1.8. He added 4.5 pounds of R134a, checked the amps (1.55) and validated that the pressure/vac. held. I since purchased a Multimeter but not the expensive one that he had that was capable of looping around a wire and giving a reading (like a finger thumb can now realize I know crap about electronics, etc. I have an IR gun and it reads about 105 to 110 F directly on the compressor. What part(s) do I require? Any help would be appreciated.
Capacitor and Start Relay. When I call on the Refrigerator for cooling it "clicks" and activates the compressor; however, if I unplug the system, set the refrigerator to the "1" and the Freezer to "9", the system turns on and then it "clicks" and 3 - 5 seconds later it turns off the compressor. SO, is it the capacitor or start relay OR is the freezer RIGHT PANEL thermistor saying it is "cool enough" and then shuts it down? I would think if the capacitor or start relay was an issue it would involve the entire unit. ANY HELP....PLEASE!!

Good advice.
I've been having problems for two days now. Started with ice on the condenser coil. Got rid of that. Cleaned all the dust off of everything I could find. Ran all the system diagnostics the frig came with. All passed. Fridg still taking forever to cool down. Fridge down to 51 degrees and freezer down to 31. This is after 10 hours of running. All this time the fan at the back has been running and I just now heard the compressor kick in finally. I'm at a loss. HELP!

I have alot of frost in the freezer, and it runs all the time. I checked the temp. fringe is at 38, and freezer is 0 and all is set to 3 out of 5

Or you can try turning on the refrigerator empty for a few hours, when it reaches cold temperature, then you can put food in the refrigerator.

I looked under for debris and i couldnt find the coils. Its iust the black ball (compressors?) So theres nothing to clean.. i made sure all the seals are closed. What can I do? I think i found coils in top freezer under plastic shelf they were all frozen so i used a hair drier and removed all excess ice. Do you think that will fix it?
