It’s wild that these things can survive for so long

Statues surviving for that long is insane.

I live near Actium, Greece where Cleopatra and Mark Anthony made their last stand against Octavian/Augustus in the Battle of Actium in September, 31 BC. They lost and died soon after. It still amazes me to this day that these historical giants were right there, battling on their ships in the same waters that I drive by and swim in. I still look out on those waters with awe. It never gets old.

The statues still look intact. They have survived for so long.

I sorta hope her tomb never gets found. May she rest in piece for an eternity without being disturbed

I think the rapid rise in sea levels over a couple thousand years means we probably fished over ancient ruins all over the world without knowing

The fact that she lived closer to the invention of the iPhone than the start of the kingdom is absolutely mind blowing, especially considering how ancient Egyptians still studied early ancient Egypt?! What a historic civilisation

There is a possibility that Cleopatra's body might have gotten away from there before or during the flood cause the things we are finding out indicates that there are chances of people already knowing that something is going to happen, ik this doesn't really make that much sense but it's just something that could be possible

For anyone who's interested in Cleopatra, I highly recommend Prudence J Jones' book "Cleopatra: A Sourcebook" which does an excellent job covering her life and legacy in a fair and unsensationalized way

It's scary to think of how many people and things like that have just been forgotten just lost at sea and no one will ever know about Maybe😢

Victorian peoples used to consume mummy powder as medicines. What if they turned cleo's mummy into powder and cosumed it? As the egyptians weren't that interested in mummies at that time and they sold mummies to foreigners to earn money? I might be wrong but this suddenly came to my mind. Also i apologise if there is any mistake in my writing as english is my third language.

The extreme expertise & training the divers must go through is insane. I hope to see what they unearth from the depths in the future. Totally amazing to see what they've done & the amount of care they must take to bring these artifacts to the surface without them crumbling to bits after centuries of being submerged & lodged where they currently are

As a latin dude (🇻🇪), that bit of “She lived there with Julius Caesar and *Marc Anthony* ” was a bit funny lol 😅😅😅. Like, I know it's a different Marc Anthony, but it reminded me of the singer.
