It's easy with my method (did it since chapter 2 season 2)
Step 1. Join a match while you are in splitscreen
Step 2. Invite a friend and make him party leader
Step 3. Die and press ready up
Step 4. He must switch to creative and press ready
Step 5. Wait and you will join

Omg my kids were literally fighting because they couldn't play split screen!!! When I started to show them this they said "that's not split screen on creative!!!" At the end they all looked at me and said "oh..well can we try it right now?!"... 🤣 this helped alot!!!!
