Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) Occlusion Procedure

If your baby has a heart problem called the Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), your child's doctor may recommend a procedure to fix it called a Patent Ductus Arteriosus Occulusion. This animation was developed by The Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital to give families a better understanding PDA and the PDA Occlusion procedure.

Very commonly seen in NICU, Tylenol can be used for treatment of closure or typically they can close on their own at 1 yr of age

My baby was born on march 10/2022 with 22 weeks a very small and premature baby weighting 1 pound and 5 onz. Nothing is better than a real heart, lungs, kidneys etc.

Can also use indomethacin or Ibuprofen to close the PDA.
