This generator, a 4,000 kW Caterpillar just underwent a Hz Conversion. So we started it up and it will soon go under a load test and our 31-point inspection before shipping out to a new home.

Sure looks like a "40, 000 KW" that thing is massive! Great start up.

Can't even imagine the noise it will make when running on full load

It’s amazing that it doesn’t need a pony engine to start it! Electric start. Now that’s progress!

With some minor modifications, that would fit in my Nissan Maxima.

The standby generators I saw at Denver's baseball stadium and at ESPN HQ had hot water circulating in the jackets at all time. Less than two seconds from "Push the button, Max" to full load.

Once got called out to a datacenter to fix a radiator on one of four brand new similar size cats. When they started commissioning the engines one of the fans sucked up a penny and launched it through the radiator core and the engine dumped the coolant everywhere. I remember when we bought it back having to carry 25 gallon drums of coolant up many flights of stairs for some reason. Good times.

That might be just enough to run all my guitar amplifiers. 🎸👈⚡😄

This looks like what you see as back up power at large hospitals 😊

cement manufacturing plant in Dixon Illinois had two of those generators for backup. Started them every couple of weeks for an hour or so. Radiators sat outside the building. Huge units.

At the new addition to the Va Hospital in Augusta Ga, I ran the 12" exhaust pipes for the Cat emergency generators. They went up through the roof. They were big, not as big as this one.

One hell of an engine and radiator 😂 I work on airplanes mainly the GE CF34 powerplant which is tiny in comparison but i can appreciate the engineering and the mechanics that maintain and fix those giant engines.
