In my country it actually means the type of bread they're selling. If its read then its white bread, if its green then its wholemeal bread and etc.

We don't do that colour coding in my country... and a lot of brands have switched to cardboard tags. We also banned plastic bags a couple years ago so at Supermarkets you can buy reusable bags or bring your own. Shops, takeouts, etc no longer have plastic bags either.
