Capital of Portugal's Alentejo region, Évora is one of the nation’s finest medieval cities. While Lisbon and Porto remain ever-favourites, the Douro Valley a visually-stunning wine escape, and the Comporta coastline endlessly beautiful; the town of Évora boasts an outstanding ensemble of buildings and a well-preserved historic centre.

On this hour-long walking tour, Dr Jeni Ryde and two local guides explore this storied city, beginning at Raimundo’s Gate. Making our way to the highest point of the city, we pass through the busy central square to visit the brooding medieval cathedral and the nearby Lóios Convent, with its superb cloister. We end our tour at the 1st-century Roman Temple and magnificent Jardim Público (Public Garden).
