Here's what 5.11 has to say about this Strider Knife:
At the 2013 SHOT Show Tom Davin (5.11's CEO) approached Duane Dwyer (Strider Knives Co-Owner) about Strider building a custom knife for 5.11. The culmination of this project is the new Limited Edition 5.11/Strider SMF. Imagined and engineered with utilitarian requirements at heart, the knife is constructed with a minimum of components and features Strider's traditional titanium slab frame lock with rounded edges and a ceramic tumble finish.

The handle is a solid block laminate with rough peel surface for positive grip with the 5.11 logo. A glass epoxy block is milled out for the blade and mated directly to the titanium slab. No spacers, no extra parts, no BS.

The blade design is a drop point, hand flat ground with a simple break on the spine and no false edge. This collector's knife includes a custom nylon pouch and a commemorative patch designed by 5.11's lead product designer Cory Nykoluk. The skull, stars and blue field are inspired by the WWII Marine Raiders' patch.

Never heard of CTS 875P steel before. Sounds like you really did your homework in selecting it LOL.

I have one. Yes 600 maybe a lot for some people, but take the Cerakote'ed Tanto SMF from blue-line gear for example.. Its 550.00. Maybe you don't know how expensive a high quality production goes for. It boils down to the combination of many things for the price point. I wanted it for the steel (I know its similar to BG42) and it has 511 cut into it. The number means something to me and I got a cool patch (I'm a patch hoar) also. I love my striders and use the handful I have over others. Unless you have one you really cant comment on it. Just my 2 pennies. Its a fair price. I will prolly get a black one for display.

I don't get it. Why is this $600 when you can get the exact same tiger striped REAL strider for under $500?

A LE for the harcore Strider collector. Not a huge fan of the 5.11 logo on the scale, but intrigued by the new steel....
