I think Pelle Olin the vocalist of the black metal band mayhem had this too. After a near death experience as a kid he thought he was no longer alive. And in his teens and early twenties he collected dead animals, harmed himself and in the end committed sewerslide. It’s such a tragic story

survivor here! after attempting to take my own life i believed i actually died, wouldnt eat or drink, i got better after a long time in-patient and meds

Edit: yes, i did have symptoms b4 my attempt. Anxiety induced stomachs gave me an intense fear of vomiting and i would believe i was dying, i had been in psychosis and felt my body 'decaying', and had long periods of disassociation where i cant remember a thing
I recovered by being Baker Acted after my attempt, where i stayed in-patient, i had very supportive community around me, support 24/7 and friends in the hospital along with meds and therapy. things got drastically better when i got on anti-psycotics

In my country, there are many people whose bodies are actually dead but they're still "living". Passed a certain point, they isolate themselves in the forest because the smell of the rotting body is horrific.. And it isn't psychological.

Reminder, simply feeling as if you're dead or just some rotting corpse doesn't mean you have Walking Corpse Syndrome and is more of a symptom of depression than WCS. There is a whole diagnosis criteria, which isn't 1-2 symptoms only. Although if you do think you fit the diagnosis criteria, reach out to a mental health professional :)
