Ruthann I’m don’t often comment but at the end of the video you talked about memories and you touched my heart. I came from a very abusive mother as I grew older people asked the usual what do you want to do with your life when I was about 15 I always replied I want to be a good mom. I always got looks and people just laughed my goal was to give my children great memories I’m 67 now with a house full of wonderful memories

I am older, and it’s too late for me to start, I always had gardens, and grew vegetables, and canned too ! I grew up in Roxborough Pennsylvania, my relative live in Morgantown Pa . That is not chaos :-)....that is a typical cookie making session. My house is a wreck after the cookies are all done. But oh boy....the neighbor girls who help 20 years ago still talk about Miss Vicky's cookie weekends. I sure hope the tradition has spread to their families too. My girls do the same now that they are grown.

Thank you, Ruth Ann. I appreciate you stating that creating memories is the most important thing on cookie baking day. Sometimes we forget that memories are created every day, both good and bad. Some we can control, others we can’t. To be intentional about making more good memories is one of the primary roles of a parent. Your family just banked a whole lot of good memories that will be drawn on for many years to come. Those will be sweeter than the delicious cookies.

Christmas cookies and candy making days was one of my favorite while my children were growing up. They cherished those days and often bring it up as adults. Now one of my children does the same with he 2 year old son. Building memories for a lifetime is priceless.
