CGR Undertow - DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS: HEROES for Xbox Video Game Review

Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow video game review of Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes for the Xbox by Atari. It's a fairly typical action RPG (role-playing game) in the same vein as Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Gauntlet, or Diablo, and you'll explore the usual dungeons, crypts, swamps and castles, and slay spiders, goblins, and orcs in classic fashion, with support for up to four players. You can play as a human warrior, dwarf cleric, elf wizard, or Halfling rogue in an epic battle against the evil wizard Kaedin. Just don't expect the depth of the famous tabletop rpg. This review features Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes gameplay footage and commentary from CGR Undertow reviewer Kevin.

If only you knew of the experiences me and my friends use to have on this game. I don't think the modern generation will ever be able to appreciate the joy of sitting down with your friends and playing offline multiplayer.

Fun fact: This is technically the last game developed by the original MicroProse. Atari bought the studio and immediately following the release of this game the studio disbanded.

I still own all my copies of Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance and Champions of Norrath as well as this one. I haven't burned out any of them; you see, I'm a big fan of the genre. I played through Heroes once as the human warrior and remember not being too thrilled with the death/ticket system. I plan on playing it more in the future and trying to appreciate it better. I won't dislike your review as it's clearly just your opinion which is ok but I won't be leaving a like either.

Ah, Sir. You're playing only on Single Player. You have no idea the endless hours we got to spend on this game. Needless to say, this was the Diablo III for us back then on the consoles...

I liked this game. Yeah, he's right, it doesn't bring anything new to the table. But not every game has to be innovative to be good. This is still fun as heck for anyone who likes Diablo or Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. And best of all, it's cheap.

Some of my fondest gaming memories are from this game. Sitting down and playing with my Dad when I was about 10 years old and playing this with him, will always love this game.

the game may actually use the same engine as baldur's gate dark alliance, which explains why the water looks the same as in baldur's gate dark alliance.

@VoidOnTuesday THACO was hinted at in 1st edition. THAC0 was used in 2nd. I honestly don't know any 1e players who use or used THACO. To-hit matrices was easier, and THACO didn't even play into the same thing.
