this is a fantastic lens, I own one of these, but there are several downsides, manual focus, chromatic aberration, not suitable for handheld shots, but with sunny condition and a heavy tripod at 650 mm is a very good lens for it's price point

I'm curious as to whether that cheap 2x teleconverter actually has any benefit. It might be sharper to just crop to 2x

I have this lens aswell. A few years now, and i love it, for what it is. It does take a lot of practice to get some good results though. But when you finally get used to its kinks and imperfections, its just a real fun lens to play with.
For Instagram, it works great. For professional stuff... absolutely not. So for fun times, yeah, by all means, buy it.

Pretty hard to get a sharp image on a 1300mm lens . Especially when your contending with atmosphere, I'm surprised how out of focus the moon shots you took were, the ones I took with my opteka 500mm and 2 of those teleconveters looked a lot sharper . I think maybe you got a bad copy . Did you use focus peaking ?
