My mom had a dog while pregnant with me. Ended up being the sweetest, gentlest, and most protective dog I’ve ever had. He was super emotionally intelligent. Dogs are such a gift.

My fiancé rescued a puppy while I was pregnant with our son . She was the sweetest puppy ever . She felt the baby kick and ever since wouldn’t stop cuddling with my stomach if I was sitting or laying down . She passed away from a few sudden illnesses before I had my son . I wish she was able to meet him . She was also my daughter’s best friend . Dogs are so special

Growing up with a dog is so special. I still miss my childhood dog. She was the most beautiful husky/ shepard mix. When she was old and dying I was away at college. I came home one weekend and she waited for me.. She died in my arms that night. 😢

❤️🐾I had my Husky (Keenai) for 14 year from his pup years to the end of his life, to me he WAS my child. When I was pregnant with my miracle baby, Keenai was VERY protective of me. Whenever my husband tried to tickle me, Keenai would have none of that😄. He would gently bite my husband hands to get him to stop, & practically jumped on top of me to shield me with his body. But was very careful not to bump my belly. He knew my husband was no threat, so it was more like "dad don't do that, you could hurt her & baby"❤️ . He tended to stick by my side, when I was home or napped.

When I was in labor, & tried walking around in my yard. He stayed by my side, & would bump my stomach with his nose to let me know a contraction was coming. He would sit until the contraction stopped & continued walking with me closely. My brother said he refused to eat properly, during the time we were in the hospital.

😥The day he died, we were told that he was too old for surgery. We saw how much pain he was in, & made the painful decision to let him go.
I stayed by his side, like he stood by mine for 14 years. When the vet injected the sedative, his breathing started slowing down. I tried to talk to him but couldn't, so my husband said "it's ok, we'll be ok.. you can let go now".
We watched how his eyes loose their focus & slowly dimmed, until his beautiful blue eyes closed forever💔. We held him until he took his last breath, letting him know we loved him, & thanked him for the years of love that he'd given us. We stayed with him for 30 minutes, before he was taken away to be cremated.

He & our son had a special connection. After my son was born, Keenai would watch over him & tended to stay close to the baby. During his toddler years, my son was very rambunctious😅. But Keenai was always very patient & affectionate with him. From the time my son was in my womb, to the 1st time we brought him home, his 1st steps & holidays, & the 1st day he started kinder before going to school. Our boy was next my son, with his goofy grin. This year when my son started his new school year. Instead of taking a picture with our boy next to him, he held a picture of him.

My son keeps the imprint of his nose & paw in his room. He's still young so we didn't want him to be traumatized & didn't take him with us. He got to say goodbye before we left to the vet, but my son couldn't stop crying & didn't want to let go. It completely shattered my heart, when I pulled them apart. Because I knew it would be for the last time. He only relented to let go, because we told him that Keenai was in a lot of pain & needed medicine so he could stop hurting.
When we came back home, my son tried to run to the back of the truck to check for Keenai. But my husband stopped him & hugged him. We had to tell our child that his best friend & adoptive big brother, had earned his wings. We buried Keenais ashes in our garden, next to where he liked to sunbathe. To us, he wasn't a pet, he was our family. So we're still feeling the pain of his loss💔❤️‍🩹🐾
