John Carlos: This is my story

Donovan Bennett sat down with John Carlos, who along with American track and field teammate Tommy Smith, made a stand against racism, in the 1968 Olympics.

It's sad to think that the past repeats itself. You would think after Carlos and Smith, and Muhammad Ali, that the silent protest by Colin Kaepernick wouldn't have been greeted with such vitriol. When I bring up these former athletes and their resistance, my conservative friends tell me there is no comparison to Ali, Jones, and Smith. I say Colin's courage was equal to that of all three of his predecessors. It's a shame that we have not evolved!
