Let me get this right. Tax payers paid for the conviction. Tax payers paid for his incarceration. Tax payers pay him $50 million because he was done wrong. Yet the police and prosecutors, which tax payers pay, get no punishment or have to pay any financial restitution at all. So they are rewarded, while tax payers pay.

For everyone of these stories of police corruption that comes to light, I just can't help but think about the millions of similar cases that have never been brought to the light and all of the innocent men and women that died in prison or executed as a result.

50M would pay for several good cops. If his constitutional rights were violated, there should be charges brought against those officers.

The City is paying way more for the "Migrants Situation ". All of this money contributes to the City of Chicago already horrible budget situation 🤦🏽‍♀️

The city is going to fight the ruling. They don’t want to pay for anything.

It is a damn shame that those involved in wrongful convictions get to go on with their lives and are never helsd accountable and never suffer any ramifications. They should have to lose all their assets, and spend the same amount of time behind bars that the wrongfully convicted had to serve. As long as taxpayers are on the hook for the settlements, the railroading by police and prosecutors will continue.

The police and prosecutors should be like doctors—they have to get their own liability insurance. Therefore when sued, the money comes from the individual’s insurance policy versus city budgets
