If you look behind the egr you have the egr cooler, and that valve is just flippin. You can saw it if the motor is front of you look left under the egr.

I have the same noise bmw 530d 2017 b57 engine . I go for premium guarantee. They change the egr cooler valve. After that the sound comes also but 1 time and wait 15 second and after sound also..
only at a warm motor. I think its normal. This is a tecnology motor. Everything is programmed. No worry if it not lose power and make black smoke.

I didn't find where the noise came from, but everything worked OK for 6 years, while I owned the car.
