Lovely you discussed this book. Having these different viewpoints especially in terms of religion sounds very interesting. You definitely convinced me to put this on my TBR list.

The characters are existentialist mostly, except the youngest Karamazov. But he too is no prophet, though liked by all for his leaning to religion.

Hell yes, the much-anticipated review from Michael! This was so well-thought-out and engaging. It's funny you said that you were lazy and just filmed this without much thought, but what you did end up saying in your review was well-put and thought out. Probably because you spent so much time with the book. Good for you for getting rid of the script :)
I must start actually reading him. I

Great review. A must read for any reader. What I wasnt expecting when reading it was the humor, it cracked me up at times.

Great review! :) I liked that you compared it to Crime and Punishment as more people have probably read that one :) xx

Totally agree with this review. I found Karamazov incredibly difficult and missed that thriller aspect of Crime and Punishment. I thought the final 200 pages of the novel were epic especially the court scenes! Great review :)

Thank you for a great review ! I feel ready to read that one very soon since I already liked Crime and Punishment.

I have a copy of this on my shelf that I haven't read yet. I have read a number of his other works though. It's been about six years since I read Crime and Punishment. Maybe a should reread that. Thanks for the review! :)

Great review! I'm still making my way through this book, but I will hopefully be able to chat with you about it soon! While I usually script or at least bullet point my reviews, I enjoy your free-flowing review style. I think the most important thing is to just to do whatever you feel comfortable doing :)

Awesome review! He's been one of those authors I've always found intimidating, but I think I'll take your advice and start with Crime and Punishment soon.

Totally agree with what you said about authenticity and not having a script. I feel super fake and like I am lying if I plan out what I am going to say before I say it..not sure why. But I like watching and making videos where it is just a conversation about books that you are having with a friend, only you have to wait for a response from your friend, lol. Great review, but this is probably going to be my first Dostoyevsky anyways, hahaha. Mostly because it may be the only one I own? That could be a lie, but whatever...plus this sounds super freaggin interesting.

I think off the cuff is working great for you. I have to read Dostoyevsky, don't know why I haven't picked him up yet. Think I have Crime and Punishment even. This one sounds so interesting

I had the Penguin version of this in my hands on Friday when I was book shopping and I ended up putting it back. I always feel like I should rad Anna Karenina first...different author, I know. I've read almost no Russian literature. Where would you recommend I start?

Thank you for this very thorough review of a Dostoevsky book that has had my interest for a period of time. The story of three brothers, one being religious, one agnostic, and the other atheist, definitely sounds appealing. The philosophical part may require some work, though. I will probably begin with Crime & Punishment. Have you read The Idiot? What did you think of that novel? -Josh
