The Electric Racing Grand Prix Driving the Future of Transportation

While traditional Formula 1 is confined to dedicated race tracks, Formula E takes over the streets of cities across the globe. And instead of the noise and fumes from diesel-powered machines, Formula E cars are powered by electricity and speed through city streets with low-level noise.

Which isn’t to say that they’re not fast. Rapid evolutions in the tech that powers these beasts mean that Gen2 cars can now hit 280 km/h. And these innovations are starting to be used in road-ready vehicles too.

With road transport accounting for a big chunk of global greenhouse gas emissions, could Formula E shake up the future of transport and pave the way for greener streets?

this vid would have been half the length without the constant repetition of the same sections

This was such a terrible video. " Let's just find a bunch of random clips and stick them together with no narrative and no real story". They didn't explain how it works or make any sort of point in this video

They had a nice intro then the video started and repeated the same thing as the intro.

It's exciting but not as intense as Mario Kart

Let's skip this on-ground tire crap and get some Anti-Gravity craft racing

When you pad your video to over the 10 minute mark way too much.

Gotta remember, lithium is also a finite resource and electric cars (Tesla at least) currently use 80-100kg of lithium per car battery.

A decade or so ago when brushless motor technology made its way to the R/C market I became a firm believer in the power of EV over fossil-fuel driven motion. For maintenance, operating and repair costs my battery-powered R/Cs blew away my nitro* cars. For mass-production and efficiency electric motors and drive-trains far outweigh the performance and practicality of petroleum combustion vehicles.

*Nitro is R/C fuel

This wasn’t even the first ever fully-electric Grand Prix, Formula E started years ago.

I think it's kinda good to change to electric, but com'on these drivers and organisators are not doing this for environmental reasons; imagine the energy used for all theses cars productions and the whole events..

People like criticize electric cars about being just as polluting and using that as an excuse to not use them but if we don’t use them now then there wont be any demand for them which will prevent companies from paying engineers to make them more clean and efficient they won’t focus on any of that

Went to 2019 Paris Eprix, was hella lit, cars sliding on the wet track was very impressive. Was also suprised with the sound, its not sounding as good as ICE but is cool really
