Suspended monorail with a set-down elevator at street level.
my first use of basic computer-generated imagery to show
this concept. depends on whether the engineering of a
counter weight cable system is this its fast ,
light weight and reliable.
the set-down elevator pod should move
8 meters in just 3 - 4 seconds.
the Sky Bus transfer pod or cab,
is a hypothetical modification to a
suspended type monorail Urban Flyer
this carriage modification adds up-to
5 people seating capacity to a
elevator transfer pod to
the front end of a suspended type
monorail carriage or Urban Flyer.
the monorail main carriage body
seating capacity is less then
Urban Flyer suspended type
monorails because of the added
weight from the
this hypothetical carriage modification.
and the need for a counterweight
system on the roof of the
main carriage body.
rapid transit that is truly rapid
inspiration for this design came
from shipping container cranes
the idea is to use suspended monorail trains
as a type of sky bus. system that also runs
regular suspension express trains on the same line,
that only stop at elevated railway stations.
meanwhile the sky bus stops at all stops
along the way.
the monorail car uses a
hypothetical hydraulic counter weight cable system
is on the roof of the mono rail car.
the hypothetical concept elevator pod is
powered by electric traction motor
in the middle roof of the main train car,
via drive traction cables that run down
the side and front end of the train car
all in all 8 cables are needed for the
4 corners of the elevator pod.
this hypothetical concept-
a counter weight is needed but with
weight and space is not appropriate for a
hanging monorail car.
so artificial counter weight is generated
by using compressed air pistons and springs.
that hold the other end of the traction cables.
acting as a elevator hanging counter weight
weight sensors calculate the weight of passengers
in the pod and automatically adjusts
the artificial counter weight air pistons.
this system is duplicated to add redundancy for added safty.
automatic cable stabilizers help keep the pod from swinging sideways.
and ground proximity sensors show the pod &
detects passengers
standing under the pod.
the monorail pod station pad at street level needs a
no-standing-zone.
passengers waiting for the suspended train.
stand behind the yellow line at street level outside

so when the elevator pod lands at street level,
with passengers leaving the suspended train. passengers
must wait before entering the pod
the train driver is in the pod so he or she can help
with wheelchairs and walkers if needed,
just as with a public transport bus.
to keep passengers safe when entering and
exiting the elevator Pod.
as machine intelligence is not 100% reliable at
sensing odd or dangerous passenger behavior.
the train driver also has access to
video surveillance of the main train car.
note- at this time the concept in a transportation
system is nonexistent.

the art started out as a wire mesh that was cut &
welded into shape.
animation of passenger behavior proved too difficult
to achieve.
so was animation of elevator traction cable behavior.
the remainder of the video uses shuttle FX
stop motion. with some green screen.
