To me McDavid seems like he would want to stay in Edmonton until the Oilers win the Cup. He's not the type to leave when times are tough. He's the type that wants to work through it, making victory sweeter

Bettman would LOVE to see him play in a MAJOR US market.

McDavid is tired of losing, no way he'd go for the Leafs seing that losing is their middle name. I can see him in NY with the Rangers or in Vegas with the Golden Knights.

He's gonna end up in Vegas and everyone will loose their minds

As a oilers fan wouldn't be mad if he went to go play with bedard

Would only be fair that McDavid signs with the leafs after all the leafs former players signing with the oilers lol

Mcdavid to the leafs just seems inevitable if the oilers keep screwing things up…matthews and mcdavid on the leafs will break the nhl fanbase tbh

So lets break down why each of these make 0 sense

1. McDavid likely won’t screw the Oilers that much and if he ever were to walk from the team, it wouldn’t be to a division rival in the Kings. Playing against them in the playoffs every year, it makes no sense.

2. If Chicago got him, it would be the same story as the Oilers. They would have their Bedard-McDavid combo (like Mcdavid-Draisaitl), but their problem would be filling out the rest of their team. Likely guys like Korchinski would have to come to Edmonton in return, so what does Chicago do to fill out the team and make McDavid want to jump ship if its the exact same problem and situation? There is no established defence and goaltending there.

3. The only thing about Toronto that makes sense is its his hometown. They won’t have the money to bring McDavid in unless they offload pretty much their entire team except maybe Matthews. And a Leafs team with McDavid-Matthews but no Marner, Tavares, Nylander puts them in an even worse situation than the Oilers are in right now.

Realistically, McDavid has been loyal his entire career, and unless something perfect aligns somewhere else, we will probably see him retire an Oiler like Crosby and Ovi with their respective franchises. I would say if McDavid reaches 35+ and STILL somehow the Oilers haven’t won a cup by then, he would make a last ditch career effort to win a cup by any means, with any team, as he should. But with all this being said the Oilers need to be a lot smarter about how they construct their team in this championship window.

Maple leaf fans delude themselves into thinking they’re getting the big pickup just because he’s from Ontario part 1, 004

As long as he stays in Canada, I'm happy. It would be great to see him on the Leafs and he's more than welcome to come play for my Canucks in 2026. Just throwing that out there
