Please note that this is a fictional flight filmed in different locations and at different times. No route nor instrument setting is real, it has been made for video purposes only.
The procedures used are standard Boeing SOP's rather than any airline's SOP's.

Im in the flight deck of a Southwest 737 right now, and this tutorial was very helpful! Hope my passengers don’t know I’ve never flown before 😅

I remember flying as a young kid in the 80's, they used to let kids go in the cockpit mid flight. My grandma used to tell me before going up there, "don't touch NOTHING!"

I've always loved and appreciated the profession of a pilot. This is only part of what they have to know. Lots of knowledge of weather, math & people skills to have a successful flight.

To over-simplify...
0:00 Start power. In this case, batteries and maybe external power and APU. Also tested flight recorder
0:06 Started ADIRU so the aircraft knows where it is
0:08 Engine fire alarm test (alarm bell) and fire extinguisher test (green light)
0:14 Cargo hold fire alarm and extinguisher test (same as above)
0:15 Oxygen supply test (yellow mark for ok)
0:19 Turn on radio and 0:22 tune in to the correct frequency
0:26 Enter flight details into the computer. Normally has the flight plans stored inside, so enter the flight number to load it up.
0:40
0:42 Start fuel pumps
0:45 Start electrical hydraulic pumps. Will be in place until the engines are started to provide main hydraulic power
0:46 Airspeed warning test
0:48 Turn on indow heating for anti icing
0:52 Turn on air conditioning system
0:54 Altitude setting
0:56 Flight director ON (to load up flight plan from computer??)
1:00 Auto-braking set to RTO (rejected takeoff) for max braking to stop on runway if takeoff rejected
1:05 Make sure all lights on the buttons are ok
1:10 Turn on ATC transponder so that control tower knows where you are
1:14 Testing all the audiable warnings
1:28 Start engines. Turn off air conditioning to divert compressed air to start engines (this is normally done automatically in more modern aircraft)
1:59 Turn ON engine ignition
2:05 Engine master lever to allow fuel into engines. With ignition on the engine will light up and get started (RPM increasing)
