Epitaph - what we have learned from all that has recently come out, as the clouds of 3 decades of propaganda begin to be dispersed:
Gorbachev's acknowledgement in history will come.
It was Yeltsin's power grab that deposed Gorbachev (forcing him to resign and dissolve the USSR) and stopped Gorbachev guiding USSR to stable and prosperous democracy.
It was Yeltsin that wrecked Russia by fire-selling off the USSR's assets in such a way that they ended up in the ownership of the fraudulent opportunists who became Putin's oligarchs.
It was Yeltsin and Putin who revived the corruption, poverty, oppression and aggression that Gorbachev worked so hard towards removing.
It was Putin who created the hatred of Gorbachev, probably after Gorbachev contradicted Putin's lie about a "promise" by Nato not to "expand", in Russian State newspaper RBTH Oct 16 2014 "Mikhail Gorbachev: I am against all walls". It's on the net.
It is my belief that time will show the Russian people and the world that they were hijacked. Temporarily. And Yeltsin/Putin will go down as a (hopefully last) short relapse into the dark ages of Russian history.
