TEDxKrakow - Agata Wilam - Poland's only university for children

Показать описание
Agata Wilam is the cofounder of the first university for kids in Poland. It invites scientists, artists, politicians and other leaders to give lectures and workshops for children. Since it was founded in 2007, the Children's University has prepared activities on a vast array of subjects for over 10,000 children. What do children and scientists have in common? The answer is that their curiosity knows no limits, so the Children's University brings together these two groups of explorers with surprising results. The young ones listen carefully and ask questions, which the adults answer truthfully. Borders are pushed further and further, imagination expands and the children gain the courage to explore the world around them.
Agata spoke at TEDxKraków, an independently organised TED event which took place on 20 October 2011 at the Manggha Centre for Japanese Art and Technology in Kraków, Poland. Our theme was "The New Normal" and we asked our speakers to tell us about what we might just have to get used to once the dust settles from the various ongoing geopolitical, financial and environmental crises.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations).
