Social Media Exposes Parts of Reality You Otherwise Wouldn’t See #shorts #blackpill

Transcript:
People say social media distorts your perception of reality. A lot of stuff on there is fake, the influencers only post the best moments and never show the mundane and the ugly in their lives. We know this affects people’s mental health. But this mental health impact isn’t just due to what‘s fake; it’s also due to what‘s real. In many ways, social media gives you a more accurate view of reality. For an unsuccessful, unattractive young male, social media is so brutally eye-opening because it lets you see the parts of reality that’re so far removed from your reality yet so close to you. It can be the reality of the popular Chad in your school who sits right beside you in class whose life is so inconceivably different from yours that you can only truly grasp it by watching it unfold in front of your eyes. Before the Internet, you only would’ve heard stories about that stuff, but now you actually get to see it. The doors that were closed on you, the experiences that were inaccessible to you, you now watch it happen in the palm of your hand. You see your peers going out, partying, clubbing, dancing, drinking, smoking, screaming, singing, hugging, kissing, and so on. Even as far as video footage of them engaging in explicit acts. Without social media, you live in your own world, disconnected from their world. You’d be doing your homework on a Friday night, thinking everyone else’s life is equally as boring as yours is, oblivious to the truth. After all, your life is all you’ve known. You wouldn’t have the slightest idea of just how much fun is happening all around you. You’d never know that there’re 20 parties going on within a 5-mile radius around you, of course, none of which you got invited to. With social media now you can see that reality. Their reality shows up in your feed as it’s happening. And it depresses you. Because it’s so real.
