Hi. I am starting to learn about LPP. I have read some papers and they, just like you, assume that x must be non negative in order to be feasible. Maybe I am confusing terminologies, but since practical problems admits negative solutions and range for x, for example, -2<=x<=2, is it not too restrictive the condition x>=0? How do you address more general problems? Regards

May I ask one question: 
In an optimal non-degenerate basic solution of problem (P), the slack variables of the non-
binding constraints are non-basic variables?
