Role Manager: How to Restrict Certain User Roles to Only Edit Content

In this video, we show how to use the Role Manager settings to restrict user roles access to Elementor. This way, you can restrict users from either accessing Elementor altogether, or only allow them to edit content. They won't be able to drag and drop, delete or add widgets, only to change the content of existing widgets. This is quite a helpful feature when you want to hand off your work to the client but you don't want that client to mess up your design.

Such a bummer this feature now only allows users to EDIT TEXT.. Would really love to see this feature back :) We need more controls to give to our clients.

What about let the Client edit only the content but don't let the client see the Templates in the wordpress left navigation, and have access to the templates? Can we do that without any plugin?

Great function! It would be interesting to expand so that it is not possible to move the block. It would be perfect!

Please add more options in role manager. We need to protect the design from being exported too.

Why do some people need it? Well I charge few clients monthly or one time as usual.

If it's monthly - they could easily login and export the design and cancel the service.

If it is one time charge - then they can export the design and can do a potential charge back from credit card company.

I love elementor.. I stopped using all other page builders and brought a premium version. But after getting elementor I have never felt so insecure to give access to customers. 😒😏🙄

Great work! Would like to request more granular controls to give a bit more flexibility for some clients like adding minor things like headings, images and text blocks.

This is great but not quite finished feature unfortunately. Restricted user is still able to add new containers, move and delete existing ones!!! Which can cause a big issue.

Hi, can you make a simple, non-techie, slow, easy-to-follow tutorial, that shows folks how to edit the text and graphics of their new website using just the Elementor Editor user login access only, with ‘Access to edit content only' enabled.
So website designers who use Elementor can give a link to this tutorial and tell their non-techie clients saying “If you ever want to change the text or images in your new website, here's a great tutorial that shows you how to log in to your website and make those changes”.
Many thanks.

Is there a way to not allow a user to make any changes to the website at all? not even content?

I am so sad that my clients can still ruin the website by being able to delete sections 😢

Such a shame this feature is locked behind a paywall.

I found the content of this video to be great but the "kick ass" features part to be very unprofessional.
