Meanwhile, Rivian's are bricking themselves, they cancelled the kitchen add-on, no longer have tonneau covers because... engineering is hard? The majority of truck owners don't use them for "truck things" and just get them to look cool. Those same people will buy the Cybertruck for that reason 😎

I used to watch Doug’s channel, but being he is an anti-Tesla person, (i guess electric cars are just not quirky enough), I surly won’t watch his videos…but besides that? I’m not defending Tesla or Elon musk, but they are great cars.

The design of the Model Y is similar to the Model 3, but the manufacturing process is very different, and that's why Tesla is changing the whole industry. Every new factory and every new vehicle they rethink how they can improve and optimize the manufacturing.

The truck market is so culturally aligned with legacy brand loyalty, that I feel vans is a more realistic pivot for the platform. Even though the high gas consumption truck market would have a significant impact on the ultimate goal of sustainable transportation, and focusing toughness was wise to tempt the truck market to go electric. I lament that a moment may come where electric trucks exist, but not electric vans. Although to go van first may sully the cyber trucks reputation as being “just a van with a flat bed”, van as an afterthought is far more palatable than truck as an afterthought, so I feel they’re on the right path. PS: make a van and take my money. Lol

Also Cybertruck requires a giant battery. If they roll out right now, the price will be so high that it’s not going to be a mass market car. Maybe for similar reason semi truck production is also very low.
