During Autism Awareness Month on Basic Black, we have a conversation about racial disparities in healthcare and some of the challenges families face in raising children of color with autism spectrum disorder.

Joining host Crystal Haynes: Dr. Karen Spencer, an Assistant in the Department of Neurology for the Autism Spectrum Center at Boston Children’s Hospital; Cynthia Laine, Founder of the Black Autism Coalition, and a mother of two children living with ASD; Jay Wilson, a Doctoral Student in Clinical Psychology for the Center for Autism Research Excellence at Boston University; and Joy James a Developmental Specialist in Early Intervention at the Dimock Center in Roxbury.

My oldest daughter and I have autism and more black families need better resources... which is why I started working in pediatric therapies with kids with autism.. mainly black and brown kids! 9:34 this is important also 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💜
