On my 99 Protege with full AWR mounts I had a BRUTAL amount of NVH. I was almost ready to remove them until someone told me to loosen all the mounting bolts and start the engine then torque them all back down. The reduction in vibration was amazing and because I had gone a few days with it rattling my brain out it felt like stock in comparison. I'm tempted to put mounts in my NA in the future...

Yesterday I installed the Fab9 Tuning mounts in my 2001 NB using this excellent video as a reference. The mounts for my car have four bolts, but otherwise are quite similar. My car has A/C and power steering and it took a surprising amount of wiggling and fiddling to get the old mounts out. It was impossible to remove the drivers side mount without first removing the exhaust heat shield. It took a little more time, but none of the small bolts broke while taking off the heat shield, so that was nice. After that, the job was straight forward. I did not see any evidence of that bracket you mention nor did I have to do anything to the starter.

The new mounts went in easily and I was able to align the new mounts by my self without difficulty. Unlike some recommendations, I did not remove the large bolt holding the two parts together I just slipped them into position and bolted them in. I wish I had partially tightened it beforehand on the bench. Cranking a pair of wrenches to take up all that slack after the mount was in position was tedious. So tightening that large bolt nearly all the way before you install the mount would be a good idea.

Wonderful video, I have a stock 95 with stock mounts.

The mounts aren’t blown and I’m not making more power (yet), but I dislike the amount of flex in the driveline when I hard open open or close the throttle.

Your clip showing the shifter flexing about really settles me getting some stiff mounts.
