It was a request from someone on my last video to do an improvisation with no shredding, so here it is. Make of it what you will :-)

I hope you enjoy this lesson and please leave a comment in the comments section if you have any requests. Tons more to come!

you know you're a badass when you have to put "no shredding" in the title

I love how that neck pickup sounds. It's so bright and present.

It's now 2022, and this is an eternal type of playing that will be a demonstration of perfect ability for all time.

The backing track is "Faithful Spirits" by Luay Rifai.

Amazing stuff, has that 80's M.Schenker/Gary Moore/Jan Cyrka vibe.

One huge bad thing.

I can't get enough of it.

Sometimes we fail to realize the slow stuff is tougher musically than the bombastic shredding as it takes REAL musicality as well as technique and an incredible amount of control.  Love it.

Rick Graham you are truly and inspiration and an artist. I often get down on myself for not being able to sweep 128 note long 16th note rising and falling arpeggios at 4k bpm, but you reminded me you dont have to be able to play the fastest runs to play the most beautiful soul touching music. Thank you my

Has the soulful quality of Billy Gibbons' lead in "Rough Boy". All these people who think just because some can play 164th notes that they can't also play with feeling, depth, intonation and an overwhelming sense of theory should line up for a group enema. Bravo, Rick.

Outstanding talented guitar player... First heard this amazing composition years ago and always listen to it while running the streets... So just wanted to say thank you.

And Thank you to YouTube because without them none of us would have ever been introduced to such amazing talented people around the world 👊🏾

Rick I really miss these times when you used to improvise over any backing track, with or without shred... This is just amazing!
