We ran our a B&B as a "cheap n cheerful" but all we got were people that wanted the cheapest but expected the earth. One year we closed, took a leap of faith and invested a ton of money (knocked walls down, rebuilt every en-suite, went from 8 rooms to 4 ... etc) and raised our prices. It was the best move we ever made.
