Los Angeles FC earned a 1-nil win against Inter Miami CF in the first leg of their quarterfinals series as the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup continued Wednesday at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California, USA.

A highly contested first half presented few opportunities in attack as both teams were solid in defense.

Nathan Ordaz broke the deadlock in the 57’ for LAFC to pull ahead, finding the back of the net with a right footed hit from long distance to the right-hand bottom corner. Mark Delgado recorded the assist on the play.

Lionel Messi had a dangerous look in the 86’ as Inter Miami searched for the equalizer, but his left footed attempt from just outside the box was met by a save from LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Lloris concluded the match securing his third clean sheet this CCC campaign, having a solid performance in goal with three saves.

The teams will meet again next Wednesday in the second leg next Wednesday at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. The winner on aggregate will advance to the semifinals.

If LA had anyone who could actually score a goal it would of been at least 5-0...

Hollywood and Vice City must be one hella of a interesting coast to coast trip. Let's go Angels ‼️👏🇲🇽⚡

Messi should be in substitute. Not because Messi is not good. LAFC were well prepared to man-mark him. Letting Messi in from beginning is like falling into the trap. Inter Miami tried too hard to attack. They should control the game, re-direct the focus away from Messi. They should learn to attack without Messi. Just like the way Argentina team does. LAFC is not a better team. Yet, they man-marked Messi efficiently and waited for a chance to turn the game upside down.

Inter Miami gotcha focus upon wing movement and long-range shootings. They gotcha focus upon man marking even

Say whatever about America and Football, or soccer, but they have Messi playing against Lloris, WC22 GF, and maybe Ronaldo will play for Miami in Club's WC in june. Having the biggest legends of sports in one team, until now, only in US!

I hate that Jordi Alba is so damn good. Best LB this league has ever seen.

The point is that Messi shouldn't have played the entire match. He should have even come on in the second half; he would have made a difference. He gives the opponent too much of an advantage due to his age and physical exhaustion. But he was the center of attention, and as always, he doesn't like to disappoint anyone, least of all his team, which ends up depending too much on him. That's what happens when you're the goat.

Miami defense could not afford to support offensive plays because they were vulnerable to counter attacks. That left messi and offense surrounded by la defenders and there wasnt much they could do. Once LA scored the first goal, they went completely on defense and the Miami offense was completely blocked off.

Messi tiene el contrato de los tiros libres como Ronaldhino en Mexico? Obviamente deberia dejar a alguien más hacer eso...

That’s one thing missing for INTER. PROPER DEFENCE. Home they are building training facilities to prepare future talented.

Lafc got pretty much chances and scored only 1goal its their biggest mistake they should have kept atleast 2or3 goal lead now its easy for miami to comeback🙂
