Where I think my father was right in raising me :-
1) he never showed anger to my mom.
2) he always had a disciplined and organised life
3) he never brought outside frustration on any of us
4) he was very serious about my education
5) he made sure he doesn't pass on financial liabilities on our generation.
6) he, to some extent, was okay with my sense of independence and privacy

Where I think my father missed a point in raising me:-
1) he scared me to do best in studies, giving least importance to any activity else than my academics
2) we had the least conversations that two people living in the same house could have
3) he never taught me basic things like shaving, driving, bank stuffs, financial stuffs etc.
4) he has very little adventure quotient which I could hardly relate with
5) most important point : HE ALWAYS WAS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT HIS REPUTATION IN HIS SURROUNDINGS THAN MY MENTAL PEACE (the "log kya kahengey" syndrome)

As a result of which I admire my dad but also look forward to be AT LEAST better than him.

Most fathers struggle to make their kids understand what they understood very late in their life. That you always need to work harder than you think.
