hello Potters. in today's episode we're going to the answering a very basic question that many beginners have which is, what is the difference in between oxidation and reduction? this is a very simple question to answer and it mainly has to do with how much oxygen is in your atmosphere while you're referring your work primarily in the glaze.
hopefully this answered a very basic question. most of us have kilns in our homesteads are oxidation Potters simply by the fact that we have electric kilns.

Hey, Donte! We recently purchased an old electric kiln that no longer functions (It was only $100). We plan to turn it into a gas fire reduction kiln whenever we have time to complete this project. Thanks again for a very informative video!

Thank you. I needed this so much because I am new at this to explain it to my husband because he been talking front end loaders and gas versus electric I told him there's a difference but couldn't explain it

Thought I had a grip on oxidation vs reduction. I didn't know that stealing oxygen was what turned copped red. Cool

There are also electric reduction kilns that work by basically burning a block of carbon so that the carbon eats all the atmospheric oxygen in the kiln. Look up STi kiln as an example. I've heard of a potter that achieved electric reduction by flooding it with carbon monoxide gas during the firing (involved modifying their kiln a bunch to achieve this without letting the CO leak into their workshop)

Donte, have you considered glazing the tiles around AstroBoy (behind you)?

No, this didn't help at all. How does it apply to electric kilns? And how do you conduct an oxidation or reduction fire?
