SpaceX Starship SN6 150m Hop Test Flight 🔴 Live

preview_player
Показать описание
Starship SN6, equipped with a single Raptor engine (SN29), will attempt a hop at SpaceX's development and launch site at Boca Chica, Texas. The test article will rise to a maximum altitude of about 150 meters and translate a similar distance downrange to the landing pad. The flight should last approximately one minute and follow a trajectory very similar to Starhopper's 150 meter hop in August of 2019, and to the more recent SN5 150m hop. The Raptor engine is offset slightly from the vehicle's vertical axis, so some unusual motion is to be expected as SN6 lifts off, reorients the engine beneath the vehicle's center of mass, and lands. SN6 has six legs stowed inside the skirt which will be deployed in flight for landing. The exact launch time may not be known until just a few minutes before launch, and will be preceded by a local siren about 10 minutes ahead of time.

As for the tilt, I'm guessing that was deliberate to allow liftoff with the centre of mass directly above that one Raptor. It seemed to fly that way too. Had they not done this, they would have needed a huge attitude correction just as it lifted - probably not a great plan.

you gotta think... the O2 is going to vent, since the system is being built for 3 gimbal'ed and 3 static engines. there is a lot of jery rigging just to test the core components and the telemetry.. by sn8 we may not see venting like that

They should name the first starship, 'The Hans Silo Starcruiser'.

Did they fix the propellant leak on top of the Raptor that they had on SN5?

If the rocket engine shuts off and there is not an immediate explosion you can assume it's landed correctly. No need to wait for the cloud to dissipate. Stop hop anxiety.😲

Hi, awesome coverage thank you - correct me if I'm wrong; is the top weight compensation count for the maximum weight, or just what a single-engine can handle?

So all these years wondering how the cow jumped over the moon, spaceX is working on getting the silo to jump over the moon with the cow. Great idea.

NASA will not like the absence of a launch abort system after the Challenger accident. Starship could easily go unmanned to orbit and the crew follows in a Dragon capsule. The cargo version reminds of the James Bond movie featuring the gyrocopter Little Nelly and the rocket launching from the crater to ´eat´ another spacecraft in orbit and bring it back to Earth (One Only Lives Twice?). Go, Starghip. Je Suis Charlie.

I presume they left the site dusty for dramatic effect...

It's a giant flying septic tank sucking our money down the toilet.

Completely off topic. I notice that you Americans are adopting the cadence and stress patterns of Indian English. Until I realised this I was wondering what you meant by assen 6. Then I got it - ascent. In England we stress the second syllable, not the first.

Slingshot the space rocket and then launch it in the atmosphere.

I don't buy it, dust has the wrong message, with that heat we see no alternative gas burn off such as moisture etc...

Look in the sky, it's a flying grain silo.

Thats how we could deliver grain shipments to china. Just pack the silo and fly it directly to china.
