Harvest Push Continues: Combining Available, Fixing the Chaser Bin & Powerline Tech Trial!

The harvest season is in full swing, but there’s still plenty of work to be done. We start the day by heading to the dealer to pick up crucial parts to fix our chaser bin, ensuring that our operation keeps running smoothly. Whilst at the dealer we see our neighbour who was famously a direct driller however that seems to be a distant memory.

After a close call with the combine and some powerlines, we take safety to the next level by trialing new technology designed to detect powerlines before they become a hazard. This innovation could be a game-changer for farming safety, and we’re excited to see how it performs in the field.

Meanwhile, we continue to push hard with the pea harvest, with hopes of wrapping up the season very soon. Every pass brings us closer to the finish line, and we’re determined to make the most of the remaining days.

We offer our combining services to fellow farmers who still has some wheat left to combine. This way we can clean our combines out before they head into their winter storage.

I think James this has become the thinking mans agricultural youtube channel, you include masses of interesting information, also include the massive logistics you have to contend with, mostly you manage it with a smile (with the exception of the parts issues😧😧) thank you as always

Hi James I hit high power lines with my combine last week. All the trips went in the local town it sparked on grain lids which started a fire in the field. I was very lucky I have been driving combines for 40 years or so didn’t realise I had touch them. Electric board man came to the field within half an hour said how lucky I was. Me and the combine ok no damage. But something needs to be done. Thank you for looking into it

You need to get the HSE involved with the cables as the power companies will not listen until they are forced into a solution. HSE are very approachable

This has become my favourite channel. Well presented by a seasoned farmer with an eye to the future and scientific approach, with a healthy injection of humour, honesty and a little scepticism. There’s a clear passion for the job and the people. I really respect and admire this whole team and genuinely look forward to the next episode. Farming is tough anywhere but especially in the UK where our weather is ruled by the jetstream which is about to deliver tropical rain from former Hurricane Ernesto over the next two days. I wish all at PX Farms well. Great fun to watch - thank you for taking the time and trouble. Regards from West Dorset.

Great videos James, lots of friends in NZ are really enjoying them, Richard has 4000 ewes back in NZ lambing on 7 September so will be great to get him home and back to reality after enjoying himself after 4 harvests in 2 years. Not sure you need to worry about paying him, I would drive your combine for free!

Hoping the weather will stay good so you can finish before weekend, well done to the team for pressing on and getting it done. I can't believe that you cannot get the parts, well done on another great update James.

Another great video James, good to see harvest coming to an end. Well done to Sandy observing the low power lines. I hope you get the steering pump fitted OK in the field. Anyway, carry and get harvest completed, looking forward to the next video.

Brilliant vlog again, I have learnt so much!
Re the alarms, bill the power companies, they make so much money from farmers nationally and its an absolute disgrace. Definitely worth bringing up to the NFU and your local MP (for whats its worth!).
I wish you all a safe end of harvest.

James, here’s a thought, you could tell people that if you loose weight there’s a risk that you might fall down the big cracks in that pea field! 😂😂 safety first, safety second 😂 on a serious note, another fantastic video, it’s definitely a good job you don’t harvest in the damp foggy conditions, otherwise those power lines would be very sketchy!
Have a good day.
