UM’s foray in India is marked by introduction of Renegade Sport S cruiser, plucked from its global bouquet for domestic market. Projected as the most affordable offering from American bike maker in India, Renegade Sport S is aimed at a large customer base longing for a premium cruiser bike. Power is derived from a single cylinder, liquid cooled engine outputting decent power and torque. Automatic transmission is missing out in place of which, UM has armed a manual unit. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks in front and dual shocks absorbers at rear. Weighing around 172kg (kerb weight), Renegade Sport S features 18 litres of fuel tank. Dimensionally, the bike measures 2227mm long, 1140mm high and 780mm wide.
The bike has been styled tastefully and dons a classic design. The lower portion of the bike is finished in black with splashes of contrast colour are visible on the upper side. Handle bars are large and placed a tad high, whereas the seat is positioned relatively low and comes with a detachable cowl. The exhausts are placed close to the rear and are finished in matte black. Head lamp up front is round and the wheel in front appears relatively larger than rear.
A 279.5cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled, two valves per cylinder engine powers the Renegade Sport S. Power developed by the engine is decent around 24.8bhp at 8500rpm and top torque on offer is 21.8Nm at 7000rpm. A six-speed gearbox is mated to the 279.5cc engine. Claimed fuel economy returned by the entry level motorcycle from UM is 35 kmpl.
