Learn about the fascinating geologic story of the lofty Pioneer Mountains of central Idaho (near Sun Valley) with geology professor Shawn Willsey. These spectacular mountains contain some of the oldest rocks in Idaho and were shaped and modified by glaciers during the last ice age.

You can learn more about southern Idaho geology by purchasing Geology Underfoot in Southern Idaho and Roadside Geology of Idaho. Both available locally or on Amazon.

I love doing these videos and will continue to do so but if you want to provide support or much appreciated gas money, you can send support via:

I wonder if soil scientists swiped the term 'slickensides' from geologists. It is a common descriptor in shrinking/swelling clay soils (Vertisols).

If you could go explore anywhere within 6 hours of Boise for the weekend, where would you go? 🤔

I love your videos....I thought you were either a geologist or a love seismology, but they're very closely related... keep it up
