WOW, I really needed to hear this. I am about to take my CCS test in a couple of days and I thought I needed a CPC because some yt videos was making it seem like it was the best certification in regards to MCB. Thank you, glad you popped up on my feed!

Loving all the content you are sharing. This particular video is the one I needed! So helpful in pointing me in the right direction. The clarity that you provide for people like myself is immeasurable considering all the trial and error you are saving us. Thank you!

Another thing I do not like about AAPC is that for individuals like me who dont have coding experience in the field they place a A for apprentice on your credential which I find to be so unfair as I feel it handicaps you in the job search. These credential are hard enough without having an apprentice mark on you AHIMA does not do this.

Great explanation and insight on the difference between the CCS (outpatient/inpatient) vs CPC, and plus, the additional Membership fees...

I have a CCA and an RHIT and am having a very hard time finding a job but it's still a good credential and a step to getting your CCS dont let anyone say a certification isnt any good anything you gain is going to help it's just that CCA is entry level is all but it's a step to greater things in this field I know its expensive but ITS WORTH IT TRUST ME it's like a degree it's an investment in your future career

I currently have my RHIT and actually sit for my RHIA tomorrow 🤯. I have worked in two area hospitals in HIM over the last several years and they require you to have your RHIT to code. After listening to this I am surprised they would not require one of the more coding specific degrees. Thank you so much for sharing, I am new to your channel

Thank You for the information on CCA we need more advocacy for that credential.

And are they training and paying for this certification? That would be the question. I’m sure they’d walk the “policy” back if they were made to be responsible for the payment of the certifications.

I just saw on a group a recruiter said that having a CCS is great but she loves when people have both!
I got so confused. I chose the CCS, I mean CCA because I want to be able to do both and inpatient sounds more appealing to me.

I just had to pay my recertification fee with AHIMA its 50 dollars per credential I have to so 100 dollars

A lot of these companies are just scamming by telling people they need both. I’m a CPC and will be eligible for CCS once done with my RHIT program.

Do you think it’s necessary to obtain the CPC for beginner’s ?

Hi, thank you so much for your video and info, I was in a group on fb and a woman was making me feel that the ccs-p wasn’t good that I needed to have the CPC also. I’m getting ready to take my ccs-p exam soon. My question is the ccs-p is different than the ccs? Is it better to have both and how would I go about getting the ccs?

Which should I get, the CPC or CCS? I have been researching this so much, yet still can't make my decision. Can I get the CCS take training then pass a test in less than a year, or do I need prior coding experience for this. I would like to have the ability to do both inpatient and outpatient
