The F-86 would easily go super sonic in a shallow dive. It was a check item for pilots going through initial checkout of the F-86 at Nellis AFB. The early F-86As that went to Korea did not have the radar ranging gunsights. They still utilized the K-18 sight. The easy way to tell was to look at the nose. The F-86A nose/intakes were not machined metal but a material that pilots called "Keg liner". The black radar ranging site fixture was not present on the nose. Some were later modified to accommodate the A-4 radar ranging sight.
