I cleaned mine with dish soap and water then put it in a sock and swung it around to get the water out.
Then layed em to rest in two washes of spirits just to even it out if there was still water in em and have the water diffuse into the spirits.

And then I left it out to dry in my garage under a silk scarf and lubed my bearings with peppermint essential oil about 3 small drops per baring in a "Y" pattern.

I was broke, and wow. The board be zooming now.

lube your bearings when you're finished or they'll basically get destroyed

I would recommend using Dawn dish soap to remove the oil and grease from the bearings very efficient and you can mix it with white vinegar too so it removes rust if you have any.

Back in the day we soaked, bones red, in gasoline, put them back on. Then gave them a good amount of lube. They lasted a life time and would spin for minutes

Im back skating again after 16 years away. When i was young, we did everything, cleaning them. I couldn't stand the way they rode lubed up. Now I just do nothing. If they screw up ill just buy more... Bonus back in the day Thunder strike lows were like $30 lol. My skill slowly coming back.

Pop off the shields, spray with brake cleaner, dab of grease, put shields back on. Done. Leaving your bearings dry will make them faster at first but definitely won’t make them last longer.

If possible you can use a small amount of grease, any grease made for metal should work

Fun fact winded has a small amount of silicone that will help lubricate it

Use Kerosene. It won't cause rust and won't degrade the shields. Not re-lubing your bearings is a horrible idea. They will still spin but the lube is meant to keep the heat down. Lubricate your bearings kids

Im not a chemist but I've been skating for 24y. I think the Windex will break down grease / oil, which makes it a bad lubricant.

This is OK to clean the bearings, minus the Windex. Once cleaned, lube them. It reduces friction and wear/tear, especially between the balls in the bearings and the outer racer.

Oil will collect dirt, but I'd bet a dry lube would repel more water and not collect dirt. Do a test for us where you grease some bearings with regualar oil, maybe some specific bearing oil, dry lube and no lube to test them all. Run them through the wringer with puddles and dirt.
