A haunting ballad from the same 1980 LP that gave them their biggest hit in this country, "I Got You."
(That, which I heard back-to-back with "Don't Stand So Close To Me" by the Police on Casey Kasem's video show, late one night, made me fall in love with Rock 'n' Roll again.)
This tune should be a concert piece, a staple of the recital repertoire:
The piano part is marvelous, even without the midi overlays, and the vocal demands would really show off the abilities of any well-trained bel canto singer.

Tim’s vocal is just 💔. Love this song. I love that with this recording, the vocal sounds as though it’s all one take, and we get to hear Tim breathing. Leading into the first chorus you can hear him “count breathe” into it. I love that because it’s so human, not “cleaned up”. This is a real person singing to us in his own beautiful voice about being heartbroken.

Genius. By this point though, Tim had been in the band for a number of years.
The chord that leads into the chorus is so eclectic and beautifully odd. It doesn't fit right for a fraction of a second.
0:50 and onwards. Very clever.
