There's a difference between skinny jeans and girl jeans. If you buy the right type of skinny jeans, they can be very flexible and they don't have to squeeze your body like tights. Professional hip hop/urban dance teams wear skinny jeans to perform all the time so you can't say they're not functional.

For me, as a 17 year old, I like Hollister's skinny jeans, they're tight around the ankle, and have enough room for everything and don't look tight around the thighs at all.
