In 5 minutes, we are introduced to the characters, the plot, the setting, and the music.

My dad introduced me to this anime when I was 13-ish; I always saw a large painting of Priss on her motorcycle in his bedroom growing up and I was like "oh!! That's the lady that was in your bedroom" lmao and we watched it together and I loved it. For his birthday that year I learned Konya wa Hurricane in full Japanese and sang it to him for fun :) still know all the lyrics

Somehow, the 80s were even more 80s in Japan. Well done.

There is a reason Anime got so popular. And it was because of series like this. The 90's anime was amazing and the bubblegum crisis was one of my favs. I loved the music too.

That is the most beautifully animated sequence of a girl putting on a miniskirt I have ever seen.

One of the biggest things I miss about '80s anime is the depth. In 5 minutes your immersed in a world where you completely understand the tone and the vibe, which it seems alien yet somehow familiar.
Art in its most visceral form.

For me, the year was 1990.
I was attending the Chicago Comic-con (now Wizard World Chicago) for the first time. As I was going through the various dealer sections, I came across this vendor with a lot of VHS tapes. Not realising they were bootleg fansubs at the time, one title, called "Bubblegum Crisis" caught my eye. The vendor through in the first ep into a vcr and tv setup he had and played it through the opening till Luna was coming out of Hot Legs.
I bought it right there and have never looked back.

Bubblegum Crisis still has the best soundtrack of any TV series till this date 🤩🥰

I fully thought this was a joke song in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, not an incredibly deep cut to a classic anime.

They said it couldn't be done -- ripping off Streets of Fire, Blade Runner, Aliens and Terminator all at the same time -- and then there was _Bubblegum Crisis._

This one scene was all it took for this to become one of my favorites of all time, and this was only the beginning of the first episode!

Bubblegum Crisis. That's a name I haven't heard in over 20 years.

I love that Priss and the Replicants is a direct reference to Blade Runner

this anime had vibrant animation
this is true gem from the 80s although the days of cyberpunk anime are long gone at least in my opinion.

I never watched Bubblegum Crisis, but MAN I miss this art style! And sound and feel of the music from those days? Bru, the nostalgia is STRONG with this one.
