The beauty of electric scooters and electric bikes is that a flat terrain is not necessary. They even work in San Francisco, a city known for its hills.

Where did you hear that some customers have taken delivery of the C8?
Production won't start until December...
If you have info officially from GM, please say so.

Fun fact about Subaru, the 360 was brought to the US by Malcolm Bricklin, who also developed the Bricklin SV1 - A Gullwing Sports car powered by a AMC 360 and Ford 351W, a car that was designed in the US, but built in St John New Brunswick Canada. The operation was mostly owned by the New Brunswick Government!

Micro-mobility (bikes, scooters):
- If people come to downtown areas by car anyway, why would they then use bike/scooter if it means retracing (doubling) their steps to get back to their car? If they are already downtown and a bike/scooter eliminates the car trip, sure, that makes sense.

The new Escape’s front grill looks bizarre! It goes inward!

Nashville in December a balmy -2 with the wind chill factor. Sounds like a great place to use a scooter....

I have to disagree with your opinion on the UAW, John. It’s true that stockholders lost it all (I was one of them!) and secured creditors got pennies on the dollar, but when bankruptcy happens those are the rules laid down by the law. Payroll gets paid first, then secured creditors, and finally unsecured creditors. If stakeholders are ignorant of that, that’s at their own risk.

I can, somewhat, see your point about managers losing their pensions as being unfair. Poor decisions taken by upper management set the stage for GM’s bankruptcy; I have no sympathy for them. Middle and lower management, however, have a lot less exposure to the decision making that makes or breaks a business in the long run. Should they have lost their pensions? Probably not.

Still, with the implementation of the two-tiered wage system within the UAW and the other concessions made, the union gave their part to get the Detroit 3 back on their feet. Now that the automakers are again healthy, it’s time to restore compensation. In my mind, this strike has merit.

Sorry John, but I DON'T feel sorry for shareholders in GM stock; they knew the territory before they purchased shares. And since many GM executives retire with seven-digit bonuses, they won't be missing any meals or going homeless; like many UAW workers do when plants are shut down and union staff are layed off. GM needs to work this out!

have you seen the sidewalks in New Orleans?

The strike is going to really hurt GM on the parts side because their parts distribution centers have closed as well. That will hurt the dealers in turn as well because now they won't be able to do warranty work on cars due to the lack of parts.

History is irrelevant to GM/UAW negotiations. The question is, how much more can GM pay and still remain competitive? Frankly, not much. GM already has the highest labor costs in the industry. UAW shouldn't be surprised to find GM in the mood to ask for clawbacks, not ready to part with yet more of their profits. I think the union made a strategic mistake in negotiating with GM first. They should have chosen a company with lower labor costs to go first. Definitely expect GM to demand productivity improvements sufficient to repay any higher costs.

The C8 is NOT being delivered now. Early next year.

I would like to see Autoline do a show about the factors of the Healthcare system of the US having a drag on Corporations like GM, GM has what 5 workers retired for every active worker? their biggest cost is the healthcare coverage they provide their workers, so would having a universal healthcare system like every other country in the world have a positive impact for companies like GM? what would be the savings they could possibly benefit from by having a single payer healthcare system? would be a good show to watch and talk about!

I'm sorry, but the Escape just doesn't look serious enough for it's segment. That gaping mouth of a grill and the headlight shape just says "I'm built for hairdressers"
